Lot 2030
Constantine I, 307/310-337. Follis (Bronze, 20 mm, 3.00 g, 6 h), a contemporary imitation of a BEATA TRANQVILLITAS issue from Treveri, after 321. CONSTAN-TINVS AVG Laureate bust of Constantine I to right, wearing consular robes and holding eagle-tipped scepter in his right hand. Rev. BEATA TRAN-QVILLITAS / ✱PTR Globe set on altar inscribed VO/TIS / XX; above, three stars. Minor flan faults, otherwise, extremely fine.

From the Tetrarchy Collection, formed over the past twenty-five years.

This and the lots 2029 and 2031 above and below all bear the unlisted mintmarks ✱STR and ✱PTR. However, despite their excellent style, the differing and rather clumsy rendering of the altars and globes indicate that these coins are not the product of the official mint but, rather, excellent imitations.
